Jolie Harris, DNS, RN, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Nursing in the School of Nursing at Louisiana State University (LSU) Health Science Center in New Orleans, where she teaches on the biobehavioral basis of health, health policy, politics, and health outcomes. She is a recipient of the LSU endowed professorship: St. Charles General Hospital Auxiliary Professorship in Nursing. Previously, Dr. Harris was a gubernatorial-appointed member of the Louisiana State Board of Nursing, serving for two terms. She has been an active leader and member in organizations, including Louisiana Enhancing Aging with Dignity through Empowerment and Respect (an organization that advocates for improved quality of care and quality of life for older adults), Louisiana Geriatrics Society, Louisiana Dementia Coalition, National Nurse Executive Council for Long-Term Care, and the Gerontological Society of America. Dr. Harris has an interest in cultural change in long-term care, as evidenced by her involvement in architectural and operational design for renovating sites across Louisiana. She has worked with multiple long-term care sites in applying for an American Health Care Association (AHCA) Quality Award and has volunteered as a master and senior examiner for the AHCA Quality Award Program.
