In this session, we delve into the realm of Community-Engaged Research (CEnR) and its transformative impact on gerontological research. Led by experts in the field, participants will gain invaluable insights into initiating CEnR projects, navigating challenges, and accessing support systems to ensure success in their endeavors.

Session Objectives:
1.) Present introduction to CEnR: Participants will receive an introduction to Community-Engaged Research (CEnR) and its pivotal role in shaping gerontological research practices. By understanding the principles and significance of CEnR, attendees will grasp the transformative potential of collaborative research approaches.

2.) Discuss initiating CEnR projects: Practical insights and guidance will be provided on initiating CEnR projects within the realm of geriatric research. Participants will learn strategies for identifying suitable community partners, setting collaborative goals, and fostering meaningful engagement to address pertinent research questions.

3.) Discuss challenges and barriers initiating CEnR projects: Common challenges and barriers encountered in the    initiation of CEnR projects will be explored, along with effective strategies for overcoming them. Through real-world examples and case studies, participants will gain valuable insights into navigating obstacles and maximizing the potential of CEnR in gerontological research.

This session will be a panel discussion moderated by Liza Behrens & Ally Brothers.
