The Biological Sciences Section is hosting the webinar, "Advancing Success in Publishing a Scientific Manuscript," featuring Dr. Gustavo Duque, Editor-in-Chief of The Biological Sciences Section of the Journals of Gerontology Series A. During the webinar, Dr. Duque will provide an overview of the journal, as well as tips for preparing a strong manuscript, and how to best respond to reviewers' comments and concerns.

Nathan LeBrasseur, PT, PhD, holds the Noaber Foundation Professorship in Aging Research and has appointments in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Department of Physiology and Biomedical Engineering at Mayo Clinic. He is the Director of the Robert and Arlene Kogod Center on Aging and the Co-Director of the Paul F. Glenn Center for Biology of Aging Research at Mayo Clinic. His latest research has centered on cellular senescence, a fundamental mechanism of aging, and interventions to counter this process to extend healthspan. Dr. LeBrasseur has received the Glenn Award for Research in Biological Mechanisms of Aging, the Nathan W. Shock Award Lecture from the National Institute on Aging, and the Vincent Cristofalo Rising Star Award in Aging Research from the American Federation for Aging Research. He is a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America.

Gustavo Duque, MD, PhD, FRACP, FGSA

Professor of Geriatric Medicine

McGill University

Dr. Gustavo Duque is a geriatrician and biomedical scientist specializing in age-related musculoskeletal decline, including osteoporosis, sarcopenia, osteosarcopenia, frailty, and the roles of vitamin D, exercise, and protein in bone and muscle health. He trained in Internal Medicine in Colombia and completed Geriatric Medicine and a PhD at McGill University, where he later joined the faculty and conducted research at the Lady Davis Institute. He subsequently held senior academic and leadership roles in Australia, including Chair of Medicine and Director of the Australian Institute for Musculoskeletal Science. In 2022, he returned to McGill as the Dr. Joseph Kaufmann Chair in Geriatric Medicine, Director of CEDurable, and Principal Investigator in the Bone, Muscle & Geroscience Group. In 2025, he became Director of the McGill Division of Geriatric Medicine. Dr. Duque has established multiple Falls and Fractures clinics, leads several clinical trials, and has published over 360 scientific papers and five books
